The closing on this property was delayed about a month due to title issues.  Once we got the green light, we closed on March 9th.  My demo crew got right to work and the framing crew has been in there for about a week reconfiguring the floor plan.  Work on the addition began today and it should

Happy Thanksgiving!!  It has been a very long process but we should finally have permits today for my Acton project.  I’ve been in contact with the inspector for the past several weeks and although the project seems very straight forward, he has been short staffed which has delayed our approvals.  We are now in a race against time

I closed on my Acton property back in September and have been busy getting together all necessary documents for the permitting process.  Because this will be close to a complete new construction (I’m saving the foundation and first floor deck), my contractor had to submit architectural plans, a survey plan and a new septic system design (the property is going

Although we closed on this project in May, I’ve only had contractors in there for 2 weeks.  Yes, it’s been sitting untouched (with the exception of being cleaned out) for 4 weeks.  Originally, the contractor working on my Wenham project was supposed to manage this one as well.  He met the sub-contractors at the job, put

It’s been a couple of weeks since I gave an update on my current rehabs.  Things have been progressing more slowly than my past rehabs which can be directly attributed to a number of factors.  I will elaborate in my next post but I can say that there will be some major changes to my

I went to Rehab #9, Reading and Rehab #12, Salem over the weekend to check out the progression. Rehab #9, Reading The demo is complete and our framers should have everything framed out this week along with installing the fence and some of the windows.  The mechanical systems will be roughed in next week and

Rehab #8, Wenham – More Issues

As I wrote in a previous post, the past several weeks at the Wenham project have brought nothing but bad news.  First, the roof had to be rebuilt due to insufficient framing, and then the back room due to considerable rot.  On top of all of that, I was given more bad news last week.

As I mentioned in my previous post, the building inspector came out to the property yesterday to walk through the house and to make sure we have an appropriate plan for the rebuild.  After going through the house with our contractor, he was pleased to see that we were taking the time to rebuild the roof.
